Swimming courses

If it concerns the back, swimming is the absolute number one. However, this only applies to the backstroke and the crawl. Only with these swimming styles does the spinal column retain its natural S-form. The whole spine is stretched and alternately tensed and relieved. The backstroke also strengthens the neck muscles and helps to prevent tension. The breaststroke can on the other hand put strain on the cervical spine if the head becomes too stretched out of the water. Furthermore, many breaststroke swimmers are susceptible to hollow-back, due to additional strain on the lumbar region of the spine.

In our swimming school we convey the correct techniques to all employees for either the crawl or the backstroke. The course lasts 3 months and begins each Tuesday at 08:15 in our small indoor swimming pool.

Successful graduates receive the coveted itemis swimming badge, and depending on the wish, a bathing suit or a pair of swimming trunks.

A little tip for anyone who still does not want to give up the breaststroke: Hold your head straight, inhale above and exhale under water, having your eyes closed.
