itemis on the OOP 2009
Abstract
The conference, counted amongst the most important events in the software sector, offers visitors to the ICM International Congress Centre between January 26th and January 30th the chance to inform themselves on the state of the art of technology and of all kinds of topics surrounding the field of software technology. itemis will be both a sponsor and an exhibitor and will offer subject lectures.
The focal point of the OOP convention has always been software technology and the corresponding management aspects. As so called soft skills – including but not limited to communication, trust and team motivation – have gained importance in the last couple of years, they form a focal point of this years OOP. Accordingly the conference's motto for the OOP 2009 is: “Soft(ware) Skills: The key to successful projects”.
For years the OOP has successfully combined factual contents and the latest topics with more fuzzy factors, such as the opportunity for networking. In other words: the OOP offers technology as well as management and inter-personal contents.
This year itemis experts will again contribute with various lectures to the conference's success. On Tuesday, January 27th from 2:00pm to 2:45pm, Sven Efftinge and Dr. Jan Köhnlein will be demonstrating the topic “User interface programming with external DSLs” in a practical example: for a Swiss company an Oracle-Forms based application frontend is to be replaced by a Java solution. Efftinge and Köhnlein will show the whole way, from the problem to its solution.
On Thursday, January 29th, 9:00am to 10:30am, Markus Völter will give a talk about “Architecture as a language – architecture modelling with textual DSLs”. He will show the description of architectures using domain specific languages, demonstrating an approach that has already been used successfully several times.
