Eclipse Summit Europe - Xtext - From Galileo to Helios

10/28/2009, 1:30pm10/28/2009, 2:10pm, Ludwigsburg, Forum am Schlosspark

Abstract

The Xtext framework greatly eases the development of textual domain specific languages (DSL). The version 0.7.0 of Xtext was part of this year’s Galileo Release and the next major release will be available with Eclipse Helios which is due Summer 2010. While the framework already provides a mighty, full fledged IDE for your very own languages, a greatly customizable environment and a very good integration into the Eclipse modeling ecosystem, the next version will be a great step forward towards the vision of language workbenches. In this talk we will present the state of the art in textual DSL development with Xtext, some core concepts behind the scenes and ideas for the next version. We’ll demonstrate existing and new features and give a glimpse on the things that are to come in Helios with TMF Xtext 0.8.
