itemis, represented by Director Wolfgang Neuhaus, joined by Eliane Fourgeau, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Geensys, will be devoting its attention to the topic of the automotive sector on the preceding symposium day of the 18th of November 2008, marking the start of the two-day Eclipse Summit.

Software development for embedded systems in the automotive sector needs to handle an endless number of artifacts. Eclipse offers various possibilities for developing and integrating development tools in this sector. Be it Eclipse modelling, JDT, CDT, DSDO or OSEE, all processes offer starting points and solutions. The purpose of the symposium is therefore to examine and discuss current or future applications of the Eclipse platform in the automotive industry, research and teaching.

In addition to the »Automotive Symposium«, the itemis specialists Dr. Jan Köhnlein, Sven Efftinge and Peter Friese will be giving a talk during a session on 11/19/2008 on the »Xtext« framework and the next generation of textual DSLs »domain-specific languages«. Alongside a demonstration that is intended to explain the core concept of »Xtext«, this talk will also include further illustrations and demonstrations.
