Introduction of new MDO concept for offshore projects in Switzerland

Abstract

itemis, a leading IT consulting firm and service provider specialising in model−driven software development, has announced the opening of a new branch in Switzerland. After Germany and France, the itemis core areas of model−driven software development, domain−specific languages and software architectures, should now also gain a foothold in Switzerland, in the »TECHNOPARK® Aargau« in Windisch.

With tools such as Eclipse, openArchitectureWare (oAW) and the Eclipse Modeling Framework, there will be a greater focus on the product line development of Swiss customers. Besides the Centre of Informatics (ZFI) and Puzzle ITC, a software manufacturer based in Bern, there is now a further Eclipse member in Switzerland. itemis is board member as well as strategic member of the Eclipse Foundation and is working with a team of eight developers on the Eclipse Modeling Project (EMP).

 

Serano Colameo, Manager

Serano Colameo is manager and co-owner for itemis Schweiz GmbH. He studied computer science and telecommunications (Dipl.-Ing.) and since 1986 he has been working in IT with a focus on generative software development, middlewares, frameworks and software architecture.

In the first 6 years of his career, Serano Colameo worked in the field of  CAD/CAM for Schlumberger Technologies SA, and was responsible for developing so-called  “Post Processors” (software generators). Later he changed direction into the world of finance, and worked for well known financial institutes such as UBS AG and Credit Suisse as lead-engineer and software architect. By the end, he was responsible for the management of the “Frameworks & Infrastructure” department. Before his engagement with itemis, Serano Colameo was working on his own on a freelance basis.
