Full-Stack & Cloud

Seasoned Senior Full-Stack Teams for Future-Proof Cloud-Native Development.

Professional software development in enterprise environments rarely fails because of the choice of programming language. It fails because of media breaks, unclear interfaces and teams that only start to find their footing in the critical project phase. itemis delivers complete, perfectly seasoned senior full-stack teams: passionate software craftsmen who master the entire stack end-to-end and bring established processes, shared values and extremely short communication paths directly into your project.

The Typical Starting Point

Where Enterprise Software Projects Fail

Media Breaks & Unclear Interfaces

Professional software development rarely fails because of the technology choice. It fails because of media breaks, unclear interfaces and inadequate coordination processes between stakeholders and teams.

Team Formation Costs Critical Months

Temporarily assembled constructs of anonymous freelancers lose valuable time in the critical first months finding themselves, before the first productive work is delivered.

Regulatory Barriers in Cloud Projects

In banks, insurers and critical infrastructure, classic public-cloud infrastructures quickly hit hard legal, regulatory and data-protection limits (BaFin, GDPR).

Our Approach

What Is Full-Stack Development & Cloud Architecture at itemis?

Professional software development is not learnt at university: that is where the theoretical foundations are laid. The real training as a professional software developer begins in practice and has a completely different focus: quality, robustness, maintainability, test coverage and scaling. No developer can tackle such a challenge in a modern enterprise environment alone, however experienced they may be.

Our approach covers the full spectrum from full-stack development through complex cloud migrations to highly modular microservices architectures.

Maximum Flexibility in Sourcing: Seasoned Teams or Targeted Expert Integration

The success of an IT project depends fundamentally on the dynamics and experience of the team. To meet your individual project context and sourcing strategy, the web engineering team at itemis offers two perfectly scalable cooperation models:

The seasoned team as a business-critical risk minimiser: Every team assembled from scratch for a project goes through the classic team-building phases (Forming, Storming, Norming) before it can deliver the first productive work at all. If you want to accelerate a project end-to-end, we deliver a turnkey, seasoned unit of senior developers. These teams have already reached their productivity peak before entering your project, use established review processes and live agile working practices (Scrum/Kanban) natively.

Targeted integration into your existing teams (catalyst effect): You already have an internal development team but need deep full-stack expertise, cloud architecture know-how or additional delivery capacity at specific points? Our senior specialists integrate directly into your existing structures, tech stacks and processes. They not only contribute excellent code but act as experienced sparring partners who bring best practices, software craftsmanship and technological innovations directly into your team, visibly raising it to a new level.

Whichever path you choose: through ultra-short communication channels and our deeply embedded seniority, architecture and implementation decisions are made quickly, smoothly and error-free.

AI-Assisted Development

Tools in Balance: AI Acceleration through Advanced Context Engineering

Software production has changed fundamentally. However, anyone who uses AI assistants today only for isolated, uncoordinated generation of code snippets on demand is unwittingly building up massive technical debt and incomplete software architectures. Statistical code without a deterministic foundation puts the long-term maintainability of enterprise systems at risk.

Our web engineering team therefore uses artificial intelligence not as an uncontrolled autopilot but as a highly precise tool within the framework of Advanced Context Engineering:

The semantic frame is decisive: We do not feed LLMs with vague prompts. Our senior developers structure and control the exact context (via the Model Context Protocol, MCP) within which the AI operates.

Structurally eliminating error classes: Through this precise context frame, the AI systems’ generated suggestions remain strictly within the defined architecture specifications, business rules and type safety of the target system.

Human architecture authority: The AI radically accelerates mechanical code production, refactoring and test coverage, but final verification and architecture responsibility remains entirely with our team.

Through the combination of continuous training and deep understanding of context engineering, we make AI toolchains productively usable for your enterprise project without any compromises on robustness or security.

Regulated Industries & Compliance

The Differentiator: Sovereign Cloud & Regulated Industries

Especially in cloud migrations for regulated industries (such as banking, insurance, critical logistics and energy supply), classic public-cloud infrastructures very quickly hit hard legal, regulatory and data-protection limits.

Software Comes to Your Data

Instead of allowing sensitive data to flow uncontrolled into non-European clouds, we design hybrid architectures or private-cloud environments in German data centres.

Gaia-X as Standard

We build software architectures that are natively compatible with European sovereign-cloud initiatives (Gaia-X), immune to geopolitical risks and licence changes from the major monopolists.

Vendor-Neutral Evaluation

Whether a native cloud approach or the AWS vs. Azure trade-off for enterprise: we evaluate architectures purely on the economic and regulatory criteria of your use case.
Our Process

How We Work: The Structured Path to Your Enterprise Software

Custom software and cloud transformations must not be an unmanageable adventure. Our cooperative process model is transparent, agile and consistently focused on risk minimisation:

1. Maturity & Architecture Assessment

We do not start on a blank slate but take your existing IT infrastructure and legacy systems seriously. Together with your enterprise architects we analyse the data structures, clarify regulatory requirements and define the technology target picture including a clear effort estimate.

2. Agile Integration & Setup

Our seasoned senior team connects to your organisation via direct communication channels (Slack, Teams, Jira). Supported by experienced product owners and agile masters, we establish lean, functioning communication structures and set up the CI/CD pipelines and test environments.

3. Iterative Increments (Scrum)

In short, transparent sprints we continuously develop runnable, tested product increments. You can see the real build progress at any time: from a clean database schema through the documented API layer to the interactive frontend component. No surprises at go-live.

4. Deployment & Enablement

We transfer the application safely to your final deployment platform (public, private or sovereign cloud). But for us the project does not end with deployment: through accompanying coaching sessions and daily pair programming we equip your internal team to independently maintain and evolve the system long-term. Our goal is your independence.

Proven Practice

Success Stories from the Field

DB Fernverkehr AG: Project “Vendo” (Platform Modernisation in the Transport Sector): As the interface to around 5.5 million passengers per day, DB Fernverkehr AG is responsible for the entire digital ticket distribution in Germany. The historically grown platform was split into inefficient silos by isolated sales channels. itemis provided complete, seasoned web engineering teams that took over the end-to-end implementation of the business-critical offer and sales component, as a high-performance microservices architecture based on Vue.js, Nuxt.js, TypeScript, Node.js, Nest.js and Playwright. Realised in a scaled SAFe setup with more than ten parallel teams.

“In one of the largest greenfield projects in Europe to migrate all digital sales channels to the cloud, the approach of building stable, high-performance teams is indispensable to succeed. For this we are very grateful to itemis.” Ralf Gernhold, Head of IT Sales Platform, DB Fernverkehr AG

parcIT GmbH: Web Migration & Software Modularisation in the Banking Sector: As a leading provider of financial-mathematical bank management software, parcIT serves more than 1,100 institutes in the highly regulated financial sector. The desktop software “okular” had to be fully modularised and migrated to a modern web architecture while strictly complying with MaRisk and BaFin requirements. itemis provided seasoned full-stack and DevOps teams that merged completely with the internal developers, using Angular, Spring, Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes. Including MaRisk-compliant test automation via a BDD framework.

“At itemis we value not only the specialist knowledge but especially the enormous technical expertise. Our time-to-market has become significantly shorter with itemis support and our delivery capability has been substantially strengthened.” Ralf Beckers, Head of Software Development, parcIT GmbH

Global Player in Interactive Entertainment Media (Automated Omnichannel Routing Platform): A globally leading video game company faced a massive scaling barrier in international customer service: hundreds of highly specific requests per month had to be distributed manually across diverse channels to more than 100 recipients worldwide. itemis designed and implemented a bespoke enterprise routing application supporting 8 languages natively and deployed at more than 40 locations. The automated omnichannel routing completely eliminated manual sorting effort; due to its success, the group is planning a rollout as a company-wide blueprint.

REMONDIS Assets & Service: User-Centric Cross-Platform App for Global B2B Sales: As one of the world’s largest private companies for recycling, water management and municipal services, REMONDIS was creating quotes using a legacy Word macro solution. itemis designed a modern cross-platform application following the human-centred design approach (DIN EN ISO 9241) based on React Native, for Windows devices and Android tablets alike. Including a WYSIWYG editor, PDF engine, drag-and-drop building-block system and digital signature. The result: complete elimination of duplicate data entry and drastically shorter time-to-contract.

“The itemis team succeeded in providing a modern, user-friendly software solution with significant added-value features to replace the outdated internal sales solution.” Kevin Löning, Sales Management / Project Lead, REMONDIS Assets & Service GmbH & Co. KG
