The itemis approach

Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA relies on the powerful features of itemis CREATE to generate code for a wide variety of their cutting-edge devices. The software solution is used in various devices, such as the Evita V600/V800 intensive care ventilators, the VN600/VN800 neonatal ventilators, and the BabyLeo and BabyRoo incubators. Additionally, the power supply firmware for many Dräger devices benefits from itemis CREATE.

With itemis CREATE, both the firmware and the code for the user interfaces of the devices are generated.

itemis CREATE has been in use at Dräger for over 10 years. During this time, it has been tailored to meet the customer’s specific needs. In addition to custom code generators developed specifically for Dräger, the development environment has also been enhanced to support ports and interfaces. Particularly impressive is the use of state machines: in the ventilators, the entire UI architecture is based on these. Overall, the ventilators utilize 94 statecharts, the incubators 18, and the power supply 17.
